Problems Birds Cause:

Birds in and around food processing establishments can cause a range of issues, including both direct and indirect contamination of foods. Physical and health and hazards can be a factor as well. Since the high possibility for contamination, the existence of birds—on and in buildings—is cause for client concern, third-party auditor evidence. Some simple steps to help prevent pests:

• Observe to look for trend or patterns. Often birds are searching for water, food, or mates.

• Take away food or water sources.

• Keep doors closed.

• Inspect the buildings for gaps or holes.

• Make sure birds are not nesting or roosting on the buildings.

Birds are best controlled by implementing an integrated pest management program.
